I wanted to document a hiking trip with friends, the multi-day Tsitsikamma Trail on the Garden Route.

The narrative was inspired by the connections made on the trip as a result of being out in nature for multiple days with limited access to technology.

Personal reflections on the project

What made this project cool

Collaborations. This project involved working with very cool people, including a friend who assisted with shooting footage, another who did the voice over and a peer who created an original soundtrack for the video.
Working with drone footage. At the time, hobby drones were just taking off and this was a great excuse to actually use footage from one.
People really appreciated it. The people who were part of this hiking party were really grateful for it and every now then still message me to tell me about the nostalgia it induces.
